– Describe Your Business?

Positive Energy Solar is a local, employee-owned and operated sustainable energy solutions provider with over 25 years of experience. Our mission is to propagate environmental, economic, and social equity through responsible solar implementation and conscientious business practices.

– How is your mission aligned with protecting public lands?

We recognize the need for updated infrastructure, including upgrades to our power grid, but not at the expense of irreversible damage to our sacred lands in trade for shortsighted “gains.” Environmental equity ensures no single group or community faces disadvantages in dealing with environmental hazards, disasters, or pollution. The Caja del Rio is rich with history and continues to be an important land for many people and cultures as well as an important habitat for wildlife — it deserves protection.

– What percentage of your customer base is engaged in outdoor recreation?

Most of our clients appreciate and enjoy outdoor recreation, as do our employees! We support organizations that facilitate recreational and educational outdoor activities and regularly organize our own.

– How does protecting the Caja benefit you, your business, and the larger community.

New Mexico draws people in with its intoxicating natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and wild spirit rich with cultural history directly tied to the lands. Achieving protected status for this culturally rich area will help to preserve traditional uses, public access, and the historic connection between various communities and the landscape–all of which are part of the lifestyle and reason many decide to make Santa Fe their forever home. As a business operating in the Santa Fe and surrounding area and with an employee and client base who cherishes our communities rich history and natural spaces, we feel it is important to preserve the Caja for future generations to explore its wonder and enjoy all that it has to give. In the words of John Muir, “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than [one] seeks”.
